Classes III to VIII to Have Four Exams a Year Under New Assessment System

Students of Classes III to VIII in government and government-aided schools will now appear for four examinations in an academic year under a new assessment system introduced by the School and Mass Education Department. Two examinations will be conducted between April and September, while the remaining two will be held between October and March. Students will undergo two Formative Assessments and two Summative Assessments during the academic session. For children from Shishu Vatika to Class II, evaluation will continue through assessment-based methods instead of formal examinations. The department has issued detailed guidelines and directed all schools to implement the new assessment framework with immediate effect.
