Heavy monsoon rain has created a severe situation across Maharashtra, with a major landslide reported on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway near Tunnel-2 close to the Khandala exit. Large rocks and debris fell onto the newly built missing-link section, forcing authorities to shut the Mumbai-bound lane and divert traffic. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. Highway officials and the local administration are clearing the debris using JCB machines despite continuous rainfall. Meanwhile, Mumbai and Pune continue to witness widespread waterlogging, flooded low-lying areas, submerged railway tracks, uprooted trees and damaged houses. Residents have been facing severe disruptions for the past three days, while several train services have been cancelled or diverted due to the persistent heavy rain.
