Four Indian crew members were killed and another was seriously injured after a commercial cargo vessel, MV Golden Leo, came under a missile attack near Odesa Port in Ukraine. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the incident, stating that the vessel, sailing under the Guinea-Bissau flag, had departed Odesa carrying grain. Of the 17 crew members on board, five were Indian nationals.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, the vessel was targeted by three cruise missiles allegedly launched by Russia. India has strongly condemned the attack, calling the targeting of a commercial ship and civilian crew members "reprehensible."
The Indian Embassy in Ukraine is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating medical treatment for the injured Indian while extending all possible assistance to the affected families. The MEA has expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured crew member a speedy recovery.
