The investigation into the murder of GRP Constable Soumya Ranjan in Balianta has taken a fresh turn after the Odisha Crime Branch conducted a five-hour lie detection (polygraph) test on his associate Om Prakash at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL). Investigators suspect a larger conspiracy behind the murder and believe Om Prakash's statements may contain inconsistencies. After the polygraph examination, he was taken into the custody of the Crime Branch. The investigating team has also questioned the three main accused on a two-day remand and claims to have gathered several important leads. Meanwhile, Soumya Ranjan's mother and uncle have reacted to the lie detection test, expressing hope that the truth behind the murder will come to light.
