Odisha ISKCON Apologises to Gajapati Maharaja Over Rath Yatra Row

ଅଦିନିଆ ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗରେ ଗଜପତି ମହାରାଜାଙ୍କ ଚିଠିକୁ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଖାନ ଘଟଣାକୁ ନେଇ କ୍ଷମା ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରିଛି ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଇସ୍କନ । କହିଛି, ଯଦି ତାଙ୍କ ଭାବନା ପ୍ରତି କୁଠାରଘାତ ହୋଇଛି, ତାହେଲେ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଇସ୍କନ ପକ୍ଷରୁ କ୍ଷମା ମାଗୁଛୁ । ଆଜି ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱରରେ ଏକ ସାମ୍ବାଦିକ ସମ୍ମିଳନୀ କରି ଇସ୍କନ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଶାଖା କହିଛି, ଗତ ୬୦ ବର୍ଷ ଧରି ଏଭଳି ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ହୋଇଆସୁଛି । ୨୦୧୯ ମସିହାରେ ଗଜପତି ମହାରାଜ ଏ ସମ୍ପର୍କରେ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ ବି କରିଥିଲେ । ଅନେକ ପ୍ରୟାସ ଓ ଆଲୋଚନା ପରେ ଭାରତରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଦିନରେ ହିଁ ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ହେଉଛି। ଓଡିଶା ଇସ୍କନ ଭକ୍ତଙ୍କ ଚେଷ୍ଟା ପରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଦିନରେ ସ୍ନାନଯାତ୍ରା ବି ହେଉଛି। କିନ୍ତୁ ବିଦେଶରେ ଭିନ୍ନ ଭିନ୍ନ ଦିନରେ ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ହେବା ଆମର କୌଣସି କର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ ନାହିଁ। ତଥାପି ଅନେକ ଚେଷ୍ଟା ପରେ UAEରେ ସହମତି ଆସିଛି। ଆସନ୍ତା ୧୬ ତାରିଖରେ ହିଁ ରଥଯାତ୍ରା କରିବେ।

Odisha ISKCON has expressed regret over the controversy surrounding the rejection of the Gajapati Maharaja's letter on the issue of the off-schedule Rath Yatra. Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, the organisation said it apologises if the sentiments of the Gajapati Maharaja were hurt in any manner.
The Odisha branch of ISKCON stated that Rath Yatras of this nature have been conducted for the past 60 years. It also said that the Gajapati Maharaja had referred to the matter in 2019.
According to ISKCON Odisha, extensive discussions and efforts led to Rath Yatra and Snana Yatra being observed on a single day in India. The organisation further stated that it has no authority over Rath Yatra celebrations held on different dates abroad. However, it added that a consensus has now been reached in the UAE and the Rath Yatra there will be held on the 16th.
