Illegal sand transportation: Five arrested, four hyvas, three tractors seized in Gajapati

Police seized four Hyva trucks and three tractors and arrested five persons during a crackdown on the alleged illegal transportation of sand in Gajapati on Friday.

A raid was conducted on State Highway No. 4, where the vehicles were intercepted while reportedly transporting sand illegally. 

Vehicles Intercepted During Raid

According to police, the vehicles were stopped and inspected while transporting sand along the highway. During verification, authorities found alleged irregularities linked to the transportation.

As a result, four Hyva trucks and three tractors were seized on the spot.

Cases Registered Under Multiple Charges

Police registered a case against those involved on charges of illegal sand extraction, overloading and theft of government mineral resources.

Five persons were arrested in connection with the case following the raid. Their identities were not revealed at the time of reporting.

Further Investigation Underway

Police said the investigation is continuing to ascertain the full extent of the alleged illegal operation and to identify any other individuals involved.
