Heavy to Very Heavy Rain Alert as Bay Depression Nears Odisha Coast

ଉତ୍ତର-ପଶ୍ଚିମ ବଙ୍ଗୋପସାଗର ଏବଂ ସଂଲଗ୍ନ ଉତ୍ତର ଓଡ଼ିଶା-ପଶ୍ଚିମବଙ୍ଗ ଉପକୂଳରେ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଥିବା ସୁଦୃଶ୍ୟ ଲଘୁଚାପ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଅବପାତର ରୂପ ନେଇଛି, ଯାହା ଆଜି ୫ ଜୁଲାଇ ୨୦୨୬ ସକାଳ ୮:୩୦ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ବାଲେଶ୍ୱରଠାରୁ ପ୍ରାୟ ୫୦ କିଲୋମିଟର ଦକ୍ଷିଣ-ଦକ୍ଷିଣପୂର୍ବରେ କେନ୍ଦ୍ରୀଭୂତ ହୋଇ ରହିଛି । ଏନେଇ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱର ପାଣିପାଗ କେନ୍ଦ୍ର ପକ୍ଷରୁ ସୂଚନା ଦିଆଯାଇଛି । ସୂଚନା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଆଗାମୀ ୨୪ ଘଣ୍ଟା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଏହା ପଶ୍ଚିମ-ଉତ୍ତରପଶ୍ଚିମ ଦିଗକୁ ଗତି କରି ଚାନ୍ଦବାଲି ଏବଂ ଦୀଘା ମଧ୍ୟରେ, ବାଲେଶ୍ୱର ନିକଟରେ ଉତ୍ତର ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଉପକୂଳ ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରିବାର ସମ୍ଭାବନା ରହିଛି ବୋଲି କହିଛନ୍ତି ଆଞ୍ଚଳିକ ପାଣିପାଗ ବିଜ୍ଞାନ କେନ୍ଦ୍ର ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶିକା ମନୋରମା ମହାନ୍ତି।
A well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and, as of 8:30 AM on July 5, 2026, was centred around 50 km south-southeast of Balasore, according to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar. The weather system is expected to move west-northwest and cross the North Odisha coast near Balasore between Chandbali and Digha within the next 24 hours, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to several districts. Dr. Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said the depression is likely to make landfall near Balasore and advised people to remain alert as the weather system advances. The forecast has been issued in view of the rapidly intensifying depression over the Bay of Bengal and its expected impact on Odisha.
