A shortage of firewood at Swargadwar crematorium in Puri has reportedly disrupted cremation services, with the increasing number of funerals outpacing the available stock. According to the source, the inadequate supply of wood has led to delays in cremations, causing hardship for bereaved families.
The source states that some family members have expressed dissatisfaction, alleging lapses in administrative management and claiming they were compelled to leave before the cremation process was fully completed due to the shortage of firewood.
Responding to the situation, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) said that necessary steps are being taken to restore the supply and assured that the shortage would be resolved at the earliest.
