Odisha eyes road revolution with Rs 12,102,000,0000 expansion plan

Odisha is set to witness a significant boost in its transport infrastructure as the state government prepares to inaugurate 49 completed road projects valued at Rs 1,721 crore in the coming weeks. The developments are part of a broader effort to strengthen connectivity, improve road networks and support economic growth across the state.

The progress was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, who assessed the status of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects. During the review, the minister highlighted the importance of effective planning, close monitoring and timely execution to ensure that development targets are achieved without delays.

In addition to the completed projects, the state government is planning to launch 47 new road and bridge projects with a total estimated investment of Rs 12,102 crore. These upcoming projects are expected to further enhance transportation facilities, improve regional connectivity and support the state's long-term infrastructure ambitions.

Officials informed the minister that 30 projects are currently under construction, while 14 projects are awaiting the issuance of work orders. Another four projects are presently in the tendering phase and are expected to move forward once the bidding process is completed.

Harichandan noted that Odisha continues to receive substantial support from the Central Government for infrastructure development. He urged officials to maintain momentum, set clear project-wise milestones and ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timelines.
