In a major action over alleged errors in school textbooks, the Odisha government has suspended former Director of Teacher Education Manoj Padhi along with three Assistant Directors. The suspended officials include Pralipta Mishra, Dilip Sahu and Bharati Tudu. The action comes in connection with discrepancies found in textbooks.
Apart from the suspensions, disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against six Assistant Directors — Bandita Pattnaik, Manas Ranjan Rout, Manoranjan Mahapatra, Prashant Kumar Sahu, Manas Kumar Nayak and Dr Sudarshan Santara. The move signals the government's tough stand on lapses in the education sector.
The action follows the controversy surrounding textbook errors, with the administration initiating accountability measures against officials linked to the issue.
