Hera Panchami Ritual to Be Observed at Shree Gundicha Temple Today

ଆଜି ଶ୍ରୀଗୁଣ୍ଡିଚା ମନ୍ଦିରରେ ପାଳନ ହେବ ହେରାପଞ୍ଚମୀ ନୀତି। ପରମ୍ପରା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ, ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ନିଜ ଭାଇ ଓ ଭଉଣୀଙ୍କ ସହ ରଥଯାତ୍ରାରେ ଗୁଣ୍ଡିଚା ମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ଆସିବା ବେଳେ ମା’ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଆଣିନଥାନ୍ତି। ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଅଭିମାନରେ ଜର୍ଜରିତ ହୋଇ ରଥାଯାତ୍ରାର ପଞ୍ଚମ ଦିନରେ ମା’ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ଶ୍ରୀଗୁଣ୍ଡିଚା ମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ଆସି ମହାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦର୍ଶନ କରିଥାନ୍ତି। ଫେରିବା ବେଳେ ଅଭିମାନରେ ନନ୍ଦିଘୋଷ ରଥର ଏକ ଅଂଶ ଭାଙ୍ଗି ଶ୍ରୀମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ଫେରିଯାଆନ୍ତି। ଏହାପରେ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୋଇଥାଏ ମହାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାହୁଡ଼ା ଯାତ୍ରାର ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତି। ଆଜିର ଏହି ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ନୀତି ପାଇଁ ବିମାନ ବଡୁ ସେବକମାନେ ଏକ ସୁସଜ୍ଜିତ ବିମାନରେ ମା’ ମହାଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ଗୁଣ୍ଡିଚା ମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ବିଜେ କରାଇଥାନ୍ତି। ଘଣ୍ଟ, କାହାଳୀ, ଛତା ଓ କୀର୍ତ୍ତନର ଗହଳ-ଚହଳ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଶ୍ରୀମନ୍ଦିର ସିଂହଦ୍ବାର ଦେଇ ବଡ଼ଦାଣ୍ଡରେ ମା’ ଗୁଣ୍ଡିଚା ଘରକୁ ଆସନ୍ତି। ଏହି ଦୃଶ୍ୟକୁ ଦେଖିବା ପାଇଁ ବଡ଼ଦାଣ୍ଡରେ ଭକ୍ତଙ୍କ ଅପୂର୍ବ ସମାଗମ ହୋଇଥାଏ ।

The sacred Hera Panchami ritual will be observed today at the Shree Gundicha Temple in Puri as part of the annual Rath Yatra celebrations. According to tradition, Goddess Mahalakshmi visits Lord Jagannath at the Gundicha Temple on the fifth day of Rath Yatra after the Lord leaves for the temple with his siblings without taking her along.

As part of the ritual, Goddess Mahalakshmi is ceremonially taken to the Gundicha Temple in a beautifully decorated palanquin by the Bimana Badu Sevaks. Before returning to the Shree Jagannath Temple, she symbolically breaks a part of the Nandighosha Chariot, expressing her displeasure. The ritual also marks the beginning of preparations for Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of the deities.

Thousands of devotees are expected to gather along the Bada Danda to witness the vibrant procession accompanied by traditional temple music, ceremonial umbrellas, and devotional chants.
