A fresh low-pressure area may develop over the Bay of Bengal, bringing widespread rainfall to Odisha during the Rath Yatra period, according to weather model projections and meteorologists. As per the forecast, a cyclonic circulation may form over the Bay of Bengal around July 14 or 15, which could subsequently intensify into a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal coast. Weather experts say atmospheric conditions remain favourable for its formation. If the system develops as expected, rainfall across Odisha may increase from July 13, while light to moderate rain is likely to continue at several places across the state over the next three days.
