A fresh low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal, bringing widespread rainfall to Odisha during the Rath Yatra period, according to weather model projections and meteorologists. A cyclonic circulation is expected to form around July 14 or 15, which may intensify into a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal coast. If the system develops as anticipated, rainfall across the state is likely to increase from July 13. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is expected at several places over the next three days, with the Regional Meteorological Centre issuing a warning for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in some areas.
