A massive fire broke out on the stage during a Ramayana-based Jatra performance at Lanjiya village on the outskirts of Berhampur in Ganjam district. The blaze erupted after sparks from fireworks used during a stunt ignited a pile of unused firecrackers kept beneath the stage. Hundreds of spectators fled the venue in panic, but fortunately no injuries or loss of life were reported.
