A heartbreaking story has emerged from Gopalpali village under Bankey Gram Panchayat in Kuchinda Block of Sambalpur district, Odisha. Shakuntala and her son Fagunu have reportedly been living under a banyan tree for the last 15 years without a permanent home, ration benefits or pension support. The family has survived on begging and occasional daily-wage work after the death of Shakuntala's husband, Banamali Pradhan.
