Rajya Sabha Passes ‘Vande Mataram’ Bill; Up to 3-Year Jail Proposed for Insult
#ବନ୍ଦେ_ମାତରମ୍_ବିଲ୍_ରାଜ୍ୟସଭାରେ_ପାରିତ
ରାଜ୍ୟସଭାରେ ପାରିତ ହେଲା ‘ବନ୍ଦେ ମାତରମ୍’ ବିଲ୍। ରାଜ୍ୟସଭାରେ ଜାତୀୟ ସମ୍ମାନ ଅପମାନ ନିବାରଣ-ସଂଶୋଧନ ବିଲ୍-୨୦୨୬ ବାଚନିକ ଭୋଟରେ ପାରିତ ହୋଇଛି। ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଲୋକସଭାରେ ଏହା ପାରିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ରାଜ୍ୟସଭାରେ ପାରିତ ହେବା ପରେ ଏହା ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରପତିଙ୍କ ଅନୁମୋଦନ ପାଇଁ ପଠାଯାଇଛି। ଏହି ବିଲ୍ ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଜାତୀୟ ସଙ୍ଗୀତ ‘ବନ୍ଦେ ମାତରମ’କୁ ଅପମାନ କରିବା କିମ୍ବା ଏହା ଗାୟନରେ ଜାଣିଶୁଣି ବାଧା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିବା ଦଣ୍ଡନୀୟ ଅପରାଧ ହେବ। ଏହା ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ‘ବନ୍ଦେ ମାତରମ୍’କୁ ଜାତୀୟ ସଙ୍ଗୀତ ‘ଜନ ଗଣ ମନ’ ସହ ସମାନ ଆଇନଗତ ସୁରକ୍ଷା ଦେବାକୁ ସରକାର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟ ରହିଛି।...ଏହି ବିଲ୍ ଆଇନରେ ପରିଣତ ହେଲେ, ‘ବନ୍ଦେ ମାତରମ୍’କୁ ଅପମାନ କରିବା ମାମଲାରେ ସର୍ବାଧିକ ତିନି ବର୍ଷ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କାରାଦଣ୍ଡ, ଜରିମାନା କିମ୍ବା ଉଭୟ ଦଣ୍ଡର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ରହିବ।

The ‘Vande Mataram’ Bill, officially the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, has been passed by the Rajya Sabha through a voice vote. The Bill had earlier cleared the Lok Sabha and has now been sent for the President’s assent. It proposes making the insult of ‘Vande Mataram’ or deliberately obstructing its singing a punishable offence. If enacted, violations could attract imprisonment of up to three years, a fine, or both. The government aims to provide ‘Vande Mataram’ legal protection on par with ‘Jana Gana Mana’, while the Bill has triggered political debate.
