Opposition Grows Over Overseas Off-Season Rath Yatras, Says Bhubaneswar ISKCON

ବିଦେଶରେ ଅଦିନିଆ ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ଓ ଗଜପତିଙ୍କ ଚିଠିକୁ ଇସ୍କନ GBCର ମନ୍ତବ୍ୟକୁ ନେଇ ବଢୁଛି ଅସନ୍ତୋଷ । ସଂସ୍କୃତି, ପରମ୍ପରା ପ୍ରଚାରକ ବିରୋଧ କରିବା ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେଣି । ଆଜି ନୀଳଚକ୍ର ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷା ଓ ସଂସ୍କୃତି ସୁରକ୍ଷା ସଂସ୍ଥାର ସଦସ୍ୟ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱର ଇସ୍କନ୍ ମନ୍ଦିର ସଭାପତିଙ୍କ ସହ ଆଲୋଚନା କରିଛନ୍ତି । ଆଲୋଚନାରେ ଆଷାଢ ଶୁକ୍ଳ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟା ତିଥିରେ ରଥ ଯାତ୍ରା ପାଳନ ହୁଏ । କିନ୍ତୁ ବିଦେଶରେ ମନଇଚ୍ଛା ରଥ ଯାତ୍ରା ପାଳନ ହେଉଛି । ବାରମ୍ବାର ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ସଂସ୍କୃତି ଓ ଭକ୍ତ ଭାବାବେଗକୁ କୁଠାର ଘାତ କରୁଛି ଇସ୍କନ୍ । ବିଦେଶ ରେ ଥିବା ଇସ୍କନ ଉପରେ ରୋକ ଲଗାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଚିଠି କରିଛନ୍ତି ନୀଳଚକ୍ର ର ସଦସ୍ୟ। ଯାହାକୁ ନେଇ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ବର ଇସ୍କନ ସଭାପତି କହିଛନ୍ତି ଆମେ ବାରମ୍ବାର ଅନୁରୋଧ କରୁଛୁ ଅଦିନରେ ରଥ ଯାତ୍ରା ବନ୍ଦ କରିବା ପାଇଁ । କିନ୍ତୁ ମାନୁ ନାହିଁ ବିଦେଶୀ ଇସ୍କନ । ଗଜପତି ମହାରାଜାଙ୍କ ଚିଠି କୁ ହେଉ ଭଳି GBC ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଖ୍ୟାନ କରିଛି ତାହା ନିନ୍ଦନୀୟ । ଆମେ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ବର ଇସ୍କନ ତରଫରୁ ନଦିଆ ମୁଖ୍ୟ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟାଳୟ କୁ ଚିଠି କରିବୁ କେମିତି ଅଦିନିଆ ରଥ ଯାତ୍ରା ବିଦେଶ ରେ ବନ୍ଦ ହବ ।

The controversy surrounding off-season Rath Yatras conducted abroad by foreign ISKCON units has intensified, with cultural activists and Jagannath tradition supporters raising objections. Members of the Nilachakra Odia Language and Culture Protection Organisation met the President of Bhubaneswar ISKCON and reiterated that Rath Yatra is traditionally observed only on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya. They alleged that celebrations held on arbitrary dates abroad hurt Jagannath culture and devotees' sentiments.

The organisation has written letters seeking restrictions on such celebrations overseas. Responding to the concerns, the Bhubaneswar ISKCON President stated that repeated requests have already been made to foreign ISKCON bodies to stop organising off-season Rath Yatras. He also termed the reported rejection of the Gajapati Maharaja's appeal by the ISKCON GBC as unfortunate and said Bhubaneswar ISKCON would write to the Nadia headquarters seeking intervention.
