A shocking murder was reported from Malikmunda village under Patnagarh Police Station in Odisha's Bolangir district. A man was allegedly beaten to death with sticks after refusing to marry off his daughter to a relative. Three other family members sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to Patnagarh Hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Binod Sahu of Malikmunda village. Those critically injured include his wife Hemalata Sahu, son Opan Sahu, and daughter Mukta Sahu. According to the source, the attack took place following a dispute over the marriage proposal.
After the incident, the accused, Surendra Sahu of Ramud village, fled the scene. Patnagarh Police have launched an investigation into the case and are searching for the absconding accused.
