Flood concerns have intensified in Odisha as the Jalka River has crossed the danger level following incessant rainfall triggered by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. At Mathani in Basta block of Balasore district, where the danger mark is 6.50 metres, the river was flowing at 6.51 metres as of 7 AM. Heavy rainfall over the past two days in Balasore and the upper catchment areas of Mayurbhanj has led to a steady rise in the river's water level, raising concerns among residents in low-lying areas.
