Hirakud Dam on High Alert: 12 Gates Opened as Reservoir Level Continues to Rise

ଖୋଲିଲା ହୀରାକୁଦ ଜଳଭଣ୍ଡାରର ଆଉ ୧୦ଟି ଗେଟ୍। ଏବେ ୧୨ଟି ଗେଟ୍ ଦେଇ ବନ୍ୟା ଜଳ ନିଷ୍କାସନ ହେଇଛି । ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ହୀରାକୁଦରେ ଜଳସ୍ତର ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଉଛି। ପ୍ରବଳ ବର୍ଷା ପ୍ରଭାବରେ ହୀରାକୁଦ ଜଳଭଣ୍ଡାରକୁ ଲଗାତାର ବନ୍ୟା ଜଳ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରୁଛି। ଡ୍ୟାମର ଜଳଧାରଣ କ୍ଷମତା ୬୩୦ ଫୁଟ ଥିବା ବେଳେ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଜଳସ୍ତର ୬୨୪.୧୦ ଫୁଟ ରହିଛି। ଅପରାହ୍ଣ ୨ଟା ପରେ ସ୍ଥିତି ଦେଖି ଆଉ ଗେଟ୍ ଖୋଲାଯିବ ବୋଲି କହିଛନ୍ତି ହୀରାକୁଦ ଡ୍ୟାମ୍ ମୁଖ୍ୟଯନ୍ତ୍ରୀ।
The Hirakud Dam has intensified floodwater discharge by opening 10 more gates, taking the total number of open gates to 12. The reservoir level has continued to rise due to continuous inflow from heavy rainfall and currently stands at 624.10 feet against its full reservoir capacity of 630 feet. The Chief Engineer of Hirakud Dam said the situation will be reviewed after 2 PM, and additional gates may be opened if required based on the prevailing water level and inflow conditions.
