Senior BJD leader Prafulla Ghadei has strongly criticized the Emergency, saying it rendered democratic values meaningless and deprived people of their democratic rights. He remarked that it felt as if India had once again become subjugated during that period. Ghadei further said that after the Emergency ended, public anger erupted through the democratic process, and the Congress eventually faced the consequences of the people's verdict.
