Don 3 storm calms down: FWICE revokes non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh after legal push
The controversy surrounding Don 3 took a significant turn on Wednesday as the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) withdrew its non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, signalling a possible end to one of Bollywood's most-discussed disputes in recent weeks.
The decision came after a series of developments that included legal communication from the actor, interventions by industry bodies, and growing calls within the film fraternity to find a middle ground.
FWICE Confirms Withdrawal of Directive
Addressing the media in Mumbai, FWICE President BN Tiwari announced that the federation had decided to revoke the directive following requests from the Cine & TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) and the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPAA).
The move marked a major shift in the federation's stance, which had earlier urged its members not to collaborate on projects involving Ranveer Singh.
Legal Notice Changed the Course
FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit revealed during the press conference that the organisation had received a legal notice from Ranveer Singh seeking withdrawal of the directive.
“The notice reached us yesterday and requested that the non-cooperation order be revoked,” said Ashoke Pandit.
He added that the federation preferred dialogue over confrontation and remained open to discussions with the actor.
“We would like Ranveer to meet us and discuss the issue. We acknowledge and respect his contribution to the industry. FWICE does not possess the authority to impose a ban on any artist, and we hope for a constructive response from him," he stated.
The development came shortly after reports emerged that Ranveer had formally challenged the directive through legal channels.
How the Don 3 Dispute Began
The controversy erupted after Ranveer Singh decided to step away from Don 3, the much-anticipated franchise film directed by Farhan Akhtar. His exit triggered strong reactions within sections of the industry, eventually leading FWICE to issue a non-cooperation directive on May 25.
What followed was an intense debate across Bollywood, with several prominent personalities weighing in on the issue. Names such as Kangana Ranaut, Ram Gopal Varma, Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam Dhillon, Nikhil Dwivedi and Sanjay Gupta publicly shared their views as the matter continued to dominate entertainment headlines.
Salman Khan's Quiet Intervention
Amid the escalating chatter, reports suggested that Salman Khan played peacemaker behind the scenes. According to Bollywood Hungama, the superstar personally reached out to both Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar in an effort to defuse tensions.
Salman reportedly listened to both sides, encouraged private discussions, and advised them to focus on the larger interests of the industry. He is also said to have opposed involving external bodies or allowing the disagreement to turn into a prolonged legal battle.
The report further claimed that both Ranveer and Farhan responded positively to the advice and began exploring ways to resolve their differences through direct communication, away from public scrutiny.
With FWICE now stepping back and dialogue replacing confrontation, the Don 3 controversy appears to be moving toward a quieter resolution.
