BJD boat will sink soon, several senior leaders in touch with us: BJP MP Pradeep Purohit
BJP MP Pradeep Purohit made a strong political statement on Wednesday regarding the future of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, claiming that several senior leaders of the regional party were in contact with the BJP’s top leadership.

The BJP parliamentarian asserted that Odisha could witness a major political development in the coming days, hinting at possible defections from the Opposition camp.
According to Purohit, the BJD is facing internal instability following its loss of power in the 2024 Odisha Assembly elections. He alleged that many influential leaders within the party no longer feel secure about their political future and are exploring alternative options.
Using a metaphor to describe the situation, the BJP MP said the ‘BJD boat is sinking’ and that prominent leaders are looking to join the saffron party, which he described as a stronger and more stable political platform. He further claimed that some BJD Members of Parliament, along with several senior leaders, were already in contact with BJP leaders.
Purohit also predicted that the BJD’s parliamentary strength could diminish significantly in the future if the current trend continued. He maintained that the party is currently suffering from a lack of effective leadership and organisational direction.
Expressing confidence in the ruling party, the BJP leader said the BJP-led government in Odisha is expected to remain in power for a long period.
“Those who were in the top leadership of Biju Janata Dal are leaving the party one by one. In the coming days, you will see that some other major leaders of the BJD are also in discussions with the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Within a few days, another major event showing the collapse and destruction of the BJD will come before you,” the BJP MP said.
“The boat is sinking, and water has already entered. Many are already running to the BJP, and those who are desperately looking for a way out are also going to jump on board the big boat of the BJP. As for the rest, you should know they will become ‘zero’. The number of BJD Rajya Sabha MPs is going to become zero, as everyone is going to join the BJP,” Purohit added.
However, BJD has not officially responded to these allegations and claims made by the BJP MP.
