Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has taken major action over serious errors found in primary school textbooks. Based on the report submitted by the probe committee, action has been taken against four senior officials, while disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against six others. The move comes in response to widespread criticism over inaccuracies in the textbooks.
A significant aspect of the development is the Chief Minister's observation that there could be a larger conspiracy behind the textbook errors. Stressing accountability, he has directed authorities to ensure stringent measures to prevent such lapses in the future.
The Chief Minister has also issued strict instructions to put in place robust mechanisms for publishing error-free textbooks, underlining the government's zero-tolerance approach towards negligence in the education sector.
