Police have arrested two alleged members of an inter-district robbery gang in connection with the ₹5 lakh cash robbery outside the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Paralakhemundi, Gajapati district. The accused, identified as Petela Deva Dhanam and Gotela Salman from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, were produced before a court after their arrest. Police also recovered the entire ₹5 lakh, along with two mobile phones and a motorcycle.

According to police, the accused used a distraction technique by scattering small currency notes on the road after the victim, M. Suriya of Sailada village, withdrew cash from the bank. While he bent down to pick up the money, they allegedly fled with the bag containing ₹5 lakh. Additional SP Biranchi Bag said CCTV footage from the bank and nearby areas helped identify and arrest the suspects. Police further claimed the accused are habitual offenders allegedly involved in similar robberies across Gajapati and other districts of Odisha.
