A major financial irregularity has surfaced at the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) office in Rayagada, where an official has been accused of allegedly embezzling ₹1.09 crore through forged signatures. The accused, Binay Harijan, reportedly working as a Management Information System (MIS) Specialist, allegedly transferred government funds into his own account and another account over a period of five years by forging signatures on bills related to fuel, staff salaries, and other official expenses. Following the complaint filed by the DUDA Project Director, police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The accused is reportedly absconding, while officials say the probe is underway.
