Senior Sevayat Madhusudan Singhari explained why Lord Jagannath's Tahia was removed during the Pahandi ritual of the ongoing Rath Yatra in Puri. He said the Tahia remained on Mahaprabhu's head up to the Baisi Pahacha (Twenty-Two Steps), but continuous rain had made it wet, causing it to slip repeatedly. According to him, the wet Tahia even struck the eyes of the servitors while carrying out the ritual, making its removal necessary to ensure the smooth continuation of the Pahandi.
