Patrapendi Ceremony Marks Beginning of Shiva-Parvati Wedding Rituals in Sambalpur

ସମ୍ବଲପୁରର ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଶୀତଳଷଷ୍ଠୀ ଯାତ୍ରା ପାଇଁ ସମ୍ପନ୍ନ ହେଲା ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପରମ୍ପରା । ଶିବ-ପାର୍ବତୀଙ୍କ ଦିବ୍ୟ ବିବାହ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଆଜି ଅନୁଷ୍ଠିତ ହୋଇଛି ପାରମ୍ପରିକ ପତରପେଣ୍ଡି ବା ନିର୍ବନ୍ଧ ଉତ୍ସବ। ନନ୍ଦପଡ଼ାର ବାବା ବାଲୁଙ୍କେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କନ୍ୟା ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ ଶୋଭାଯାତ୍ରା ବାହାରିଥିଲା।
A significant traditional ritual ahead of the famous Shitalasasthi Yatra was performed in Sambalpur, marking the beginning of the divine wedding festivities of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As part of the age-old tradition, the Patrapendi ceremony, which is considered equivalent to an engagement, was held for the divine marriage. A marriage procession was also taken out in search of a bride for Baba Balunkeshwar of Nandapada, following ritual customs.
