The Omicron RF.5 variant has been detected in Andhra Pradesh after genome sequencing confirmed the variant in four COVID-19 samples from Kadapa district tested at the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. Following the findings, the state has strengthened its COVID-19 preparedness.
