A major flood threat is looming over the Baitarani basin after intense rainfall in the upper catchment caused river levels to rise sharply. The Baitarani, Salandi and Jalaka rivers are flowing above the danger mark, prompting the Water Resources Department to warn of possible flooding in the region.
