In a major rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued six fishermen stranded in rough seas off the Surathkal coast near Mangaluru. The fishermen aboard the Indian fishing boat Manju Matha were battling for survival after strong winds, high waves and adverse weather conditions damaged the boat's hull and caused water ingress. The vessel was reportedly stranded around 33 nautical miles off the coast.
