Many families across Odisha continue to wait for permanent homes despite the existence of housing schemes and beneficiary lists. While the plans are in place, the promised houses are yet to reach several deserving families.
In one case, a differently-abled person has reportedly spent the last 20 years living in a dilapidated cabin, while elsewhere helpless families continue to survive under makeshift tarpaulin shelters. Allegations of irregularities in housing assistance funds have also surfaced from some areas.
