Flood Alert in Odisha: Salandi, Jalka & Baitarani May Swell

‘ସାଳନ୍ଦୀ, ଜଳକା ଓ ବୈତରଣୀରେ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ସୁଦ୍ଧା ବନ୍ୟା ଆଶଙ୍କା ।’ ସୂଚନା ଦେଲେ ଜଳ ସମ୍ପଦ ସର୍ବୋଚ୍ଚ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଦିଲ୍ଲୀପ ରାଉତ । ‘ମହାନଦୀ ଅବବାହିକାରେ ବନ୍ୟା ଆଶଙ୍କା ନାହିଁ । ବୈତରଣୀ ପାଇଁ ଚାନ୍ଦବାଲି, ଧାମନଗର, ଯାଜପୁର ପ୍ରଭାବିତ ହେବ । ଜଳକା ପାଇଁ ବସ୍ତା ଓ ବାଲେଶ୍ୱର ସଦର ପ୍ରଭାବିତ ହେବ ।’

A flood threat is likely in the Salandi, Jalka and Baitarani rivers by this evening, said Water Resources Department Engineer-in-Chief Dilip Rout. He said there is no flood threat in the Mahanadi basin. However, Chandabali, Dhamnagar and Jajpur may be affected by the Baitarani, while Basta and Balasore Sadar may be affected by the Jalka.
