In a major relief for a victim of a 'Digital Arrest' cyber fraud, a retired professor residing in Bhubaneswar has recovered Rs 1.10 crore from the money lost in the scam. The victim had allegedly lost a total of Rs 2.45 crore after falling prey to cyber fraudsters posing a 'digital arrest'.
The amount was successfully restored to the victim's bank account with the intervention of the Cyber Crime Unit of the Odisha Crime Branch. The recovery highlights the efforts of cyber investigators in tracking and retrieving defrauded money.
The retired professor had reportedly been duped of Rs 2.45 crore in the online fraud. While Rs 1.10 crore has now been credited back to the account, efforts are expected to continue regarding the remaining amount.
