The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a massive crackdown on the growing ‘Digital Arrest’ fraud racket, conducting raids at more than 80 locations across 16 states, including Odisha, under Operation Chakra-6. Over 60 specialized teams were deployed to dismantle a sophisticated cybercrime network allegedly involved in duping people through fake court orders and forged documents issued in the names of law enforcement agencies. Two accused have been arrested from Chennai and Kolkata, while investigators suspect money laundering worth nearly ₹2 crore through mule bank accounts. Several digital devices, mobile phones, financial records and other crucial documents have been seized during the operation.
