A devastating fire allegedly triggered by a short circuit destroyed a house in Tikarpada village under Rayagada Sadar Block of Rayagada district. The incident occurred at around 4 AM while the family of Diu Kadraka was asleep. The flames rapidly engulfed the thatched house, reducing it to ashes and causing extensive damage.
According to local reports, nearly ₹50,000 in cash along with important documents including Aadhaar cards, land records and bank passbooks were destroyed in the blaze. Fire personnel later brought the fire under control, while revenue officials provided tarpaulin sheets and clothing to the affected family.
Villagers have urged the administration to extend government assistance and provide a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Residents have also requested a detailed inquiry and further support for the family, which has reportedly lost all its belongings in the incident.
