Large parts of Bhubaneswar remained in darkness after a powerful Kalbaisakhi storm disrupted electricity supply across the city. Residents of Nayapalli and several other localities faced prolonged power cuts for more than five hours, causing significant inconvenience. Streetlights remained non-functional, forcing commuters to move through poorly lit roads. The outage also affected Sahid Nagar and nearby areas. According to the report, the storm uprooted and damaged several large trees across the capital, severely impacting power infrastructure and delaying restoration efforts. The situation highlights the vulnerability of urban services during extreme weather events as restoration work continues in the affected areas.
