The Odisha Police is facing a severe manpower crunch with nearly 26,000 posts currently lying vacant, according to the Director General of Police (DGP). The DGP stated that the number of police personnel in the state is significantly lower compared to the population, forcing officers to work longer duty hours than their counterparts in many other states. The prolonged and demanding work schedules are reportedly leading to rising stress levels and mental pressure among police officers, especially those posted at police stations. The DGP, however, assured that the vacant posts in the Odisha Police will be filled soon to ease the burden on the existing workforce and improve policing efficiency across the state.
